Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do you pronounce the name?
Gulu-Gulu… like Goo-lou Goo-lou
What’s it mean?
It’s French slang for “glug glug” (or at least that’s what we were led to believe).
Whats with the “weird” beers?
We’ve always done things a little differently here at the Gulu and we’ve won a ton of awards for our beer list. Trust us, we wouldn’t lead you astray.
Why don’t you have any “Normal” liquors?
Gulu has a cordials license. Basically that means all of our liquors are sweet.
What’s with all the dog paintings?
These are all the squishy faced mascots of the Gulu over the past 2 decades! Yes they are real!
do you allow dogs in the restaurant?
Dogs are allowed on our patio! We’d love to have all your dogs inside but its against health code in Massachusetts.
why no reservations? do you have a waitlist?
While we cannot accommodate call-ahead seating, please see our host in person when you arrive. We seat on a first come, first served basis.
what about takeout & delivery?
Takeout is available during all operating hours, and delivery is available through GrubHub or UberEats. Takeout is not available on weekends (Fridays - Sundays) in October due to the high volume of dine-in guests.
can we use your bathroom?
You can if you are dining with us. Our facilities are quite limited. Also, please note the Staff Priority sign on one of the bathroom doors. Feel free to use it, but if a staff member needs it please allow them priority so they can get back to serving you! You can find locations of public restrooms throughout the city here.
Can I buy a burger and fries?
Sorry we’re not that kinda place - our kitchen is extremely small (we don’t even have a frialator!). If you are in the mood for a wicked good sandwich or a waffle, we’re your spot. If there is something you are looking for that we don’t offer just ask. Someone on staff will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Questions about OUR Weekly drag BRUNCH?
Diamonds Dine-In runs every Sunday 2-4 at the Gulu (unless otherwise stated).
We DO NOT take reservations and seating is limited.
This is a safe space for all people (queer & straight) and is an all ages event.
It is FREE to attend, however we do ask that you purchase something (that’s how we keep it free).
Please bring cash for tipping the Queens! $1’s, $5s... whatever your heart desires.
Selfies with the cast will take place after the event.
